Doosan Infracore (CEO: Kim Yong-sung) held the "Suppliers' Day 2014" at Sheraton Incheon Hotel in Incheon on the 20th of the month attended by representatives of 143 vendors and DI CEO Kim Yong-sung.
The "Suppliers' Day" refers to the event where growth-sharing is promoted through reinforcement in communication with vendors & business plan-sharing and outstanding vendors are selected and rewarded for saving costs and improving quality/productivity through innovation. On this occasion, best practices are also shared and disseminated.
This year, S-sTEEL, a construction equipment parts supplier, won the grand prize while Seyang, a machine tools supplier, and Dong Yang Piston, an engine piston manufacturer, were awarded runner-up prizes.
The 2nd plant of S-sTEEL located at Namdong-gu, Incheon, achieved zero-ppm in quality & delivery for 17 consecutive months, as a result of implementing quality innovation activities together with DI's Competitiveness Improvement Support Team. Its 3R6S initiative, the starting point of production innovation, was also rated number one.
S-sTEEL CEO Kim Yong-seok remarked, "We are improving our global competitiveness through QI activities implemented in cooperation with Doosan Infracore. We will also help the win-win initiative take root in our corporate culture and expand through diverse schemes including providing opportunities for vendors to jointly develop new products."
DI CEO Kim Yong-sung said, "We must manufacture flawless quality products and enhance cost competitiveness to meet clients' needs. Regarding 2014 as the final year of Fix & Build, we will cultivate vendors with world-class competitiveness on a mid-to-long-term basis."
