CE AP/E posted a record monthly production tally by rolling out 1,861 units of construction machinery in March. This volume is a 200 unit increase from 1,661 units, the previous monthly record set in February. The Incheon and Gunsan plants produced 829 and 324 units, respectively, in March, and posted an all time high in production volume, while Hanyang Precision, a supplier, produced 422 units, its monthly record. Sunjin Precision Machinery rolled out 286 units despite difficulties, including the production of new models and delayed shipments.
In line with the analysis conducted by its marketing and sales division, which suggested that demand will be concentrated in the first half of this year, CE AP/E, since June last year, have been compiling and addressing the glaring problems, which could arise due to the expansion of production, through management of the schedules by item, ranging from the process of pipe production in the plant to storage. CE AP/E also requested that the presidents of its suppliers make investments in their facilities and secure manpower, and thus efficiently cope with the expansion of production. It also preemptively checked and addressed problems arising in production operation, and when problems did occur, it instantly took countermeasures, assembled non-operational meetings and compiled issues for respective production teams in order to increase production efficiency.
To fundamentally address problems, CE AP/E shared the countermeasures for non-operational issues that had occurred to different teams during November and December of last year, and adopted and checked the issues as KPI items of the respective teams for this year. Non-operational meetings this year were organized under the system of daily closing. To cope with a rise in demand for construction machinery by season, CE AP/E selected 25 staff members, under fixed-term employment, and temporarily deployed them from February to May.
The most important factor of success was the consensus and passion of all executives and staff members at CE AP/E, who committed themselves with a “can do” spirit. CE AP/E said, “The feat was possible due to the teamwork of every member in CE AP/E.” It added, “We are targeting this year’s production at 18,353 units, up 20 percent from last year, and we anticipate that we will attain this target barring any unforeseen disaster.”
