Doosan Infracore Signs MOU on R&D Cooperation with Seoul National University College of Engineering

On October 4, Doosan Infracore signed a memorandum of understanding with Seoul National University (SNU) College of Engineering on mid- and long-term research and development cooperation for joint research and cultivation of quality research human resources. In attendance at the signing ceremony were Doosan Infracore President Yong-sung Kim and Prof. Tae-Jin Kang, dean of the engineering college.

Under the MOU, Doosan Infracore will assist the construction of research infrastructure and provide research funds to SNU, while the university will provide Doosan Infracore with technological and personnel support in the research field. The establishment of research infrastructure and mutual exchange in research personnel will be centered on the Doosan Institute of Technology, and the two sides will establish a joint steering committee for industry-academia cooperation.

Doosan Infracore President Yong-sung Kim said, “The signing of the MOU will allow for constant exchange between industry and academia, including mid- and long-term development of new technologies, as well as the cultivation of quality human resources; it will also contribute to elevating the competitiveness of Korea’s machinery industry.”

Doosan Infracore and SNU are jointly conducting 11 mid- and short-term projects, including Brain Korea 21 research projects, and two state-supported research projects, including the development of hybrid excavators. The company invited engineering students from the university and offered them tours to its excavator plant in China and to the Shanghai Expo last August as part of a joint industry-academia course.
