On January 7, Doosan Infracore held the 1st Patent Awards, and encouraged voluntary participation of employees in R&D activities with a goal of increasing technological competitiveness. The grand prize went to Head Researcher Seong-Geun Kang of Machine Tools BG’s Product Development Team 1. Head Researcher Kang designed a spindle drive device that integrates machine tool gear spindle functions with rotary table functions capable of precise rotary transfers. It has contributed greatly to the increase in Doosan Infracore’s global technological competitiveness.
Vice-President Seung-Cheol Choi presented plaques and prizes to six people who were selected for outstanding patents and complimented them for their tireless efforts in creating Doosan Infracore’s exclusive technology.
“We have to feel that advanced technology is the only way to survive in the industry and exert ourselves in acquiring technology for Doosan Infracore. We must act accordingly in the face of patent disputes, and each BG and technological institution must cooperate with others to build competitiveness,” said Vice-President Choi.
The Patent Awards was designed to encourage the morale of patent inventors and to promote a creative R&D environment. Of all the patents that were registered in 2008, a total of six -one from each BG and two from the Institute of Technology- were recommended and considered based on ▲Business Impact (expected economic effect and alignment with business strategies), and ▲Technology (technological competitiveness compared to existing technologies and technologies of other companies).
A patent evaluation report for the entire company was given at the event as well as a seminar on recent domestic and overseas patent trends.
