100,000 Articles of Winter Underwear Donated to Sichuan Earthquake Victims

Sichuan was devastated by a severe earthquake. What Doosan excavators lifted in the damaged areas were not the remains of buildings, but "hope" - a hope of rebirth.
Doosan Infracore has donated 100,000 articles of winter underwear for women and children of the 10 regions that were severely damaged by the Sichuan earthquake last May.
Company officials discussed the plight of the earthquake victims with Chinese excavator dealers who came for the New Year’s event on Jeju Island (Korea) in January. Those discussions revealed that many homeless women and children were desperately in need of warm clothing to get through the winter, and Doosan Infracore’s top management strongly believed that further aid should be provided.
Relief supplies worth 2.6 million RMB, including 100,000 articles of winter underwear, were delivered to women and children in the Wenchuan and Dujiangyan areas through the China Children and Teenager Fund of China’s largest women’s organization, the All China Women’s Federation.
Doosan Infracore visited Sichuan on February 23, and delivered the underwear to the Women’s Federations of Mianzhu and Shifang. The donation ceremony was held at the playground of Tumen elementary school, where students are receiving lessons in temporary buildings, because all school buildings were destroyed in the earthquake.
The event was attended by President Gu Xiu Lian of the China Children and Teenager Fund, former Vice-Chairman of China's top government organization, the National People’s Congress, and other key government and local officials. They expressed gratitude to Doosan for contributing to China’s public welfare in a time of global recession and showed their support. CEO Dong-Chul Kim of DICI and other senior managers as well as the CEOs of excavator dealers and customers visited a 5th grade classroom and handed out school supplies.
On February 13, a ceremony to declare the commencement of the donation event was held in Beijing. Doosan Infracore invited orphaned children who were scattered around Beijing and delivered the underwear. As a token of gratitude, the All China Women’s Federation and China Children and Teenager Fund awarded the company a “Public Service Star Company” certificate and a memorial tablet. The event was covered by local media including CCTV, Xinhua News Agency, the People’s Daily and correspondents of key Korean media outlets.
