CNG Engines and Hybrid Concept Excavators – Introduced at Hannover Messe 2009

Doosan Infracore took part in Hannover Messe 2009, held in Germany from April 20 to 23. The company showed a new, “greener” side of its lineup by unveiling two clean-burning compressed natural gas (CNG) engines and a concept hybrid excavator for the future.
Doosan Infracore’s CNG engine, GK12, is a next-generation vehicle engine that produces only half the CO2 of comparable diesel models. It complies with the strict US2007 emissions standard, with nitrogen oxide emissions of just 0.88-0.92 g/bhp-hr, only half the level allowed by the current emission regulation. The GV158TI is a CNG-fueled engine for generators. The design boasts the excellent durability required for an engine that must be operated every day at a constant speed. It also features excellent parts compatibility.
Doosan Infracore’s hybrid concept excavator was also made public for the first time at Hannover Messe 2009.
This model uses a hybrid system for the engine and power transmission in accordance with the trend for “green” technologies and is highlighted by its safety and operator comfort.
Unlike conventional models, the concept excavator features an undercarriage with four independent joints and adds futuristic, emotional touches to an ergonomic design. The joints rotate in all directions, and the machine is designed to respond to topographical data in real time. This allows the machine to operate on slopes and rough terrain as if it were on flat ground. It is also applied with innovative and advanced technologies, including a sliding counterweight and cabin, light-sensitive front glass, shock-absorbing seats and built-in hydraulic cylinders.
