On the 26th, a group of 40, comprised of executives and staff members from Doosan Infracore’s Incheon factory along with their children, delivered 2000 coal briquettes to low-income families designated by the Incheon Coal Briquette Factory.
Doosan Infracore has continuously carried out charity events to help the less privileged residing around the Incheon factory. Coal briquettes are delivered to 500 families around the factory two to three times each year, and rice and fruit are given out on Lunar New Year’s Day and Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving).
Despite the cold weather and the difficult work, the volunteers touched hearts and minds by delivering the briquettes to each family and stacking them in garages and kitchens for ease of use.
Thirty children of executives and staff members took part in this event. Interested children were included in the volunteer work so that they could see the examples their parents are setting by fulfilling social duties and spreading love to neighbors while also helping them to develop a spirit of community service.
“I have been living selfishly in a life filled with fierce competition for grades. This event was meaningful, as it showed me how some of our neighbors are living, and gave me a chance to do something, however insignificant, for others,” said Gun-Woo Cho, a second year high-school student who volunteered in the event.
