At the “37th Day of Commerce and Industry” ceremony held in COEX on March 17, Foreman Shin-Ung Kang of the Engines & Materials BG’s Production Team 1 received the Prime Minister’s Commendation for the contributions he has made to the development of domestic commerce and industry.
Foreman Shin-Ung Kang entered the company in 1978 and has dedicated 31 years of his life to the field of diesel engine production, playing a central role in the growth of Doosan Infracore's diesel engine business by leading the way in improving productivity, enhancing quality and working environments and realizing non-polluting establishments.
By pushing for efficient management and operation standardization in the early stages of CNG engine development and production since 2006, Foreman Kang has contributed greatly to the stabilization of products and reductions in product defects by more than 50%.
In addition, by proposing a method of reusing the fuel used during engine tests, he contributed to a reduction of 45 million KRW in production costs and the realization of cleaner working environments in 2009.
By taking initiative and setting great examples to his colleagues as a site manager, he promoted unity among workers and led them to voluntarily take part in improvement efforts.
A group of 1,000 members of domestic and overseas commerce & industry attended the ceremony, including Prime Minister Un-Chan Jeong, President Gyeong-Shik Sohn of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman Yong-Man Park of Doosan Corporation. Foreman Kang was not the only Doosan employee to receive an award. Executive Director Sang-Gi Choi of Doosan Heavy Industries (Electricity Generation BG Turbine/Generator BU) received the Presidential Commendation, while Department Head Young-Ho Park of Doosan Corporation (Holdings Division Finance FM Team) and Deputy Department Head Jin-Deok Kim of Doosan Engines (Management Division Personnel Team) received Minister of Knowledge Economy Commendations.
