Doosan Infracore (China) investment Co., Ltd, and Doosan Infracore China, held a “Doosan Hope Journey Summer Camp” in Beijing and Yentai from September 1-5, with the aim of nurturing the hopes and dreams of children at Hope Elementary Schools in China.
Students at Doosan’s thirteen Hope Elementary Schools in Yunnan, Hubei, Qinghai, Gansu, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Shanxi, and Xinjiang took a trip to the Company’s Yantai plant, visited the homes of staff for home stays, and toured famous cultural and historic sites.
The Doosan Hope Journey Summer Camp has been offered since last year under the theme, “Thank China, Share Hope.” The camp is designed to prompt children to recognize that society deeply cares about them, and to encourage them to overcome poverty and hardships through hope and courage in order to help them grow to become successful leaders of the future.
Doosan, which has been donating a portion of its annual income for years, built the Hope Elementary Schools in impoverished regions with a poor educational infrastructure. Doosan donated the entire proceeds of 750,000 yuan from the sale of its 5,000th excavator to commemorate the cumulative sale of 5,000 excavators in 2001, and constructed Doosan Hope Elementary Schools in three regions, including Qinghai, Gansu, and Ningxia, thus launching the Hope project. Last year, the Company donated a total of 5.5 million yuan, and built twenty-one Hope Elementary Schools in fourteen provinces, cities and autonomous provinces in the world’s most populous country.
