Doosan Infracore expands its operations in the infrastructure support business

Doosan Infracore, which acquired Moxi, a Norwegian company with core technology in large-scale bending trucks in August, has acquired a German logistical equipment maker, accelerating the expansion of its operations in the infrastructure support business.

DILE, Doosan Infracore’s European affiliate, announced on September 16 that it had signed an agreement to acquire Advanced Technology Lubben, a specialized manufacturer of logistical equipment for warehouses in Germany, for 2.5 million euros (about 4 billion won), in order to secure an additional lineup of logistical equipment for its warehouses, and to step up its advance into the European market.

ALT, which is based in Lubben on the outskirts of Berlin and has 42 staff, exclusively produces logistical equipment for warehouses and air freight transportation, banking on its core technology in logistical equipment. The company, which holds more than 100 dealerships across Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, posted 4.6 million euros in sales last year.

Logistical equipment for warehouses, which constitute ALT’s flagship products, is mainly used for transporting small quantities of lightweight freight within warehouses. As they only require a small space for turning and rotating, they are suitable for use in narrow spaces, and emit few pollutants. Thanks to these advantages, these items of equipment are widely used as essential tools in most European warehouses.

Through the acquisition of ALT, Doosan Infracore has secured a German logistical equipment brand and its core technology, adding to its existing business in mid- to large-sized motor-powered and engine-powered forklifts, significantly enhancing its brand image as a specialized supplier of industrial vehicles. The Company is ready to make a foray into the European logistical equipment for warehouse market, which has annual sales of 150,000 units.

Moreover, Doosan Infracore expects that it will be able to provide full service contracts via a single firm to large distribution companies thanks to the joint use of the two firms’ dealerships and the expansion of its product lineup. The Company also expects that ALT will become a hub for its advance into the motor-powered forklift markets in Eastern Europe, as well as the rest of Europe where the German concern is growing robustly. The Company plans to triple its ALT sales to 13 million euros by making the most of Doosan’s existing dealership network in Europe.

Yoon Ki-sub, Executive Director at Doosan Infracore (in charge of overseas marketing for the industrial vehicle business), said, “ALT is not large, but it boasts high visibility, credibility and brand value in Europe, and if its business is associated with the existing forklift business, Doosan will be able to accelerate its advance to become one of the global top five players in the industrial vehicle market. By using the acquisition of ALT as momentum, Doosan Infracore will continue to aggressively move into the market for various items of logistical equipment, on top of the conventional forklift business. “
