A wide variety of high-tech weapons developed and produced by Doosan Infracore were unveiled at a street parade staged on Teheran Street in Seoul’s Gangam on October 1, Armed Forces Day, which also marked the 60th anniversary of the Korean military’s foundation.
More than 3,000 troops took part in the parade, which also featured 88 units of military equipment, demonstrating the prowess of the Korean military. The event started with a drive-past of armored vehicle units spearheaded by the Cheonma, a short range surface-to-air missile produced by Doosan Infracore. The parade also showcased the Biho, a 30-mm mobile gun; armored vehicles equipped with a 20-mm Balkan machine gun; the K200, a Korean-style armored vehicle; towed rocket launchers; and the K216, an armored vehicle for the surveillance of biochemical weaponry.
Notably, the K21, an armored military vehicle that is regarded as the strongest of its kind in the world, also made its initial public debut during the parade, drawing keen attention from the spectators.
Citizens who packed the city center in Seoul’s busy Gangnam district to watch the first street military street parade in five years gave rounds of applause and sent messages of encouragement as they viewed the state-of-the-art weaponry of the Korean armed forces, which have secured world-class defense capability just 60 years after their foundation.
Prior to the street parade, a general fire power testing event was conducted at the Seungjin training site in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province on September 26.
Participating in the drill were towed guns, Balkan guns, the Biho, and the K200 armored military vehicle, in whose development and production Doosan particpated. Also on display at the event were the Cheonma, the Biho, the K21 armored military vehicle, and the K200 armored military vehicle.
