Minister Young-hee Lee visits Doosan Infracore’s Incheon Plant

Paying a visit to Doosan Infracore’s Incheon Plant on February 6, Young-hee Lee, Minister of Labor, held talks with representatives of management and labor, including Vice Chairman Sung-chul Choe, and of non-regular workers.

Lee began the meeting by saying that he was deeply impressed by cooperative labor-management relations at Doosan Infracore, which is building up an industrial culture of trust and co-prosperity despite the tough economic environment.

During their meeting, Vice Chairman Choi explained the tough business environment Doosan Infracore is facing due to the global economic crisis, while Chang-hun Yeom, head of the labor union branch at the plant, conveyed his view on the revision bill of the non-regular worker’s act, a key pending issue in the labor community, among other matters.

As for employment of non-regular workers, which has emerged as a key issue concerning the revision of the labor laws, Minister Lee also heard about hardships and problems with the employment system from non-regular workers in person. Taking tours to the backhoe plant, the minister shook hands with staff members hard at work at the production lines one by one, and gave words of encouragement.
