On May 2, Doosan Infracore presented Taskarukiat Azzawia for Import of Marine Engines & Spare Parts with a plaque of appreciation for its contributions to the improved brand image of Doosan diesel engines in Libya. The dealer also displayed the Doosan Infracore L136 at a trade show in Tripoli May 1-6.
Then Doosan Infracore and Taskarukiat concluded an exclusive dealership agreement for the Libyan market on June 9. Doosan Infracore currently holds a 60% share of Libya’s diesel marine engine market, and Taskarukiat has played a major role in that accomplishment. Taskarukiat sold 36 Doosan Infracore marine engines last year and 187 more (valued at almost US$3 million) through the first six months of this year. The dealer plans to sell an additional 350 units (worth close to US$6 million) by July of next year.
The Libyan government’s policy to develop the fishing industry has driven a steady increase in demand for marine engines. Taskarukiat is taking advantage of the boom by attending all the trade shows and marketing aggressively. The company will also will complete a parts service shop by the end of this year. From 2007, it will sell parts and provide training on engine maintenance.
