Industrial Safety Mgt. Award

The Doosan Infracore plants at Changwon were chosen for the Korea Economic Daily newspaper? 2006 Industrial Safety Management Award in the Corporate/ Manufacturing category. Managing Director Choi Jeong-il received the award on behalf of the company in a March 17 ceremony. This honor is bestowed on companies and products judged to be supported by model health and safety management (HSM) systems that protect both workers and consumers. The recognition motivates better corporate practices and helps to boost corporate competitiveness.
In August of last year, the company began addressing risk factors at all plants and produced a Health and Safety Management (HSM) Manual. The company rigorously inspected its HSM strategies, direction, planning, implementation, inspection processes and correction measures. In January, the OHSAS 18001 and KOSHA 18001 certifications were granted from the British Standards Institute and the Korea Occupational Health & Safety Agency. Those achievements led to the winning of the 2006 Industrial Safety Management Award.
The award was an opportunity for the company to review its HSM system internally. The reduction in accidents and the increase in public confidence translate into greater export competitiveness. A preventative management system improves productivity and boosts confidence on the factory floor.
