The Korean Army hosted Defense Asia 2006 Exhibition & Conference at Gyeryongdae Airfield in South Chungcheong Province October 18-22. This, the largest defense industry show held in the country, was attended by the Chiefs of Staff of nine countries (Germany, Sweden, New Zealand, Iraq and Vietnam, among others), some 130 representatives of government organizations in 34 countries, and more than 2,500 individual visitors.
Doosan Infracore booth features wheeled armored personnel carriers (8x8 and 6x6) and engines as well as mock-ups of the Korea next-generation APC, "Biho"(Flying Tiger) low-altitude 30mm twin self-propelled anti-aircraft gun, "Chunma"(Pegasus) self-propelled short-range surface-to-air missile system, K200A1 amphibious armored personnel carrier and high-precision sensors. Outside the exhibition hall, the company also showed actual versions of the 4x4 armored APC, "Biho", "Chunma", K200A1, and chemical / biological / radiological reconnaissance vehicle.
In a related story, more than 3,800 personnel from 30 military units (artillery, tank, mechanized infantry, and airborne) came together at the Pocheon training facility for the latest combined firing demonstration by the Korean military since 1998. The spectators applauded the performance of the "Biho", Korea next-generation APC, Vulcan (20mm gun) and multiple rocket launcher produced by Doosan Infracore.
