Doosan Infracore China Co. sold a total of 7,582 excavators in China last year and originally expected to sell 8,800 units in 2007. However, higher-than-expected demand prompted company officials to revise their 2007 sales target upward to 10,000 units.
In fact has managed to sell 10,313 excavators through the first eleven months of this year, which is 45% higher than the 7,118 units sold between January and November 2006. Sales are now expected to top 11,000 units for the year.
The rapid sales growth of Doosan excavators in China amid a tight monetary policy is attributable to several factors. First, the government is engaged in a massive development of the Western region. New rural communities are also being built and an economic zone is being established in the Bohai Gulf as part of a plan to foster more balanced regional development. All of these activities are quickly driving up demand for excavators.
There are other reasons behind the soaring sales as well. Last year, DICC implemented a strategy for making each business line the best in China. The company also boasts superior sales and after-sales service networks, which are being integrated for greater synergy.
DICC turned thirteen years old in 2007 and has maintained the top share of the Chinese excavator market since 2000. The company has also placed first in the Excavator category of a major customer satisfaction survey each of the past five years. Annual excavator sales growth was 3% in 2005, 40% in 2006 and 45% this year.
