The Construction Equipment Business Group has stepped up efforts to penetrate the Commonwealth of Independent States. Frequent meetings with major Russian customers such as Sverdlovskavtodor Co., which won 45 large-scale tenders in 2006, have resulted in a 50% upward adjustment in the 2007 sales projection. If all goes as planned, CIS sales will be up 120% year on year. the Construction Equipment BG has recently won a spate of new orders totaling 50 additional excavators and skid steer loaders from customers and dealers in the Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
Russian dealer Amkodor Optim took part in Construction Equipment & Technologies 2007 in Moscow (June 12-16) to exhibit six excavator models, including the "narrow shoe" S225N now in steadily increasing demand, and two skid steer loaders, a new category being aggressively promoted in the CIS. This year marked the fifth edition of the CTT, an opportunity to view future technology trends and current trends in the global construction equipment industry. More than 1,000 companies took part in the show.
While at CTT 2007, Amkodor Optim hosted a conference for two Russian dealer branches, eighteen sub-dealers, and major customers. The participants discussed Doosan Infracore’s current status in Russia as well as mid-/long- term vision for this market.
The conference was also joined by a delegation from Doosan Infracore, including Construction Equipment BG Managing Director Kim Young-sung. The BG representatives presented company plans to offer promotional support. Managing Director Kim asked the Russian dealers to work closely with Doosan Infracore in order to boost sales in the second half.
Meanwhile, the BG has been stepping up its promotion of the single "Doosan" brand. New billboards have been set up beside the roads leading to the Moscow convention center and international airport as part of the effort to elevate brand image.
Russia represents 70% of all CIS sales, and Doosan Infracore has seen Russian sales grow by at least 100% each year since 2002.
