Doosan Infracore accepted more than 3,500 job applications before hiring some 80 people out of university to fill positions organization-wide: R&D, production, sales and administration. The company posted its hiring notice at the end of April, and recruiters visited universities around the country to find and attract topnotch people.
The competition was intense (one person hired out of every forty applicants), and the final selection was determined after a three-step process. First the applications were carefully screened. Next, career assessments were carried out, followed by in-depth interviews of candidate finalists.
The hirees were officially welcomed into the organization at a July 3 dinner, a chance for them to be introduced to their new colleagues and superiors. On July 10, President Choe Sung-chul presided over a briefing for the new recruits, who learned more about the Doosan Infracore history, business areas, human resources development strategies and corporate philosophy. They also had an opportunity to talk directly with upper management.
The new employees attended a two-day event (July 13-14) designed to promote solidarity and a feeling of belonging to the Doosan Infracore organization. A week-long orientation for new employees took place from July 21, after which they attended the two weeks of basic training required of all Doosan Group recruits.
On August 16, the hirees will receive their official work orders in a ceremony and then they will undergo six months of specialized training to learn basic job skills, application capabilities, problem solving, and organizational adaptability. They will be assigned to their positions after they have gained the knowledge and confidence to perform their duties well.
Meanwhile, Doosan Infracore also hired over fifty people with job experience during the first half for production, R&D and sales positions.
