The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS), which operates under the auspices of the Korean Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, conferred its NEP certification on Doosan Infrcore’s high-speed NX5000 die and mold machining center. This is the first machine tool product to receive the new NEP designation.
The Korean government recently reorganized the national certification system, integrating seven new technology programs under five ministries into two certifications-“New Excellent Technology”(NET) and “New Excellent Product”(NEP). The certifications recognize Korean-made products with superior quality and performance thanks to original technology developed in Korea or significant improvements made by Korean firms to imported technologies.
The NX5000 features an automatic control system for varying the feed rate according to changes in the weight of the material being machined. The quality of the work is improved, while maximum feed is maintained for greater productivity. Moreover, the feed drive system is subjected to an even amount of operating force, prolonging the life of the machine for improved competitiveness. .
Receipt of the NEP certification provides the company with several benefits. The NX5000 is subject to preferential consideration in procurement by government agencies and public institutions. Government assistance is also provided for funding and sales channel development.
Executive Vice President & Machine Tools BG Chief Kim Woong-bum says, “We have become the first machine tool maker to receive the government’s new product certification in Korea. This is official recognition of our superior technology and product quality, and we expect it will help to boost our sales in the future. ”
