Doosan Infracore’s G2 engine (Industrial Compact Diesel Engine) technology was picked as one of the ‘Top 10 Technologies of the Year’ in the category of parts and components introduced for the first time in Korea this year. Executive director Gwak Se-young (Engine Development Team, Doosan Infracore’s R&D center) took part in the 2013 National Machine Day Ceremony held at Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel in Guro-gu, Seoul, on November 13, 2013 and received the plague of recognition on behalf of the company.

The National Machine Day Ceremony marking its 12th anniversary this year is co-hosted by five institutions in the machine industry and is sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. The ‘Top 10 Technologies of the Year’ is the award organized by the Korean Federation of Mechanical Engineering Societies to recognize the endeavors by researchers and promote distinguished machine technologies. The prizes are given to exemplary products or technologies developed in Korea during the year. Doosan Infracore is the only company that received the award in the category of parts and components this year.

Top 10 technologies are selected among candidates in 10 areas including parts/components, general machinery, vehicles, airplanes, robots, energy and environment through online votes by more than 1,400 mechanical engineers and staff and via the screening done by the steering committee.

Doosan Infracore’s compact diesel engines are characterized by Doosan’s own Ultra Low PM Combustion Technology (ULPC) that can reduce exhaust emissions. As a result, the low-cost, high-efficiency and eco-friendly engines can meet Tier 4 Final standards without using expensive Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF). They can be installed in industrial equipment manufactured at home and abroad such as excavators, loaders and forklifts and therefore can replace Japanese engines.
