Visitors looking at the 'Doosan Machine Guidance' system, a smart solution for excavators, which Doosan Infracore has released at the International Factory Automation System Show 2018 for the first time.
On September 11, Doosan Infracore announced that it would unveil the new Machine Guidance system that it has developed on its own for the first time at the International Factory Automation System Show 2018, which is being held at KINTEX, Ilsan from September 11-14, 2018.
This year’s International Factory Automation System Show is the eighteenth trade show to be organized and hosted by the Korea Association of the Machine Industry to promote factory automation. Around 250 companies from 15 countries are participating in the trade fair, which is expected to attract more than 25,000 visitors.
'Doosan Machine Guidance' provides the operator with information on the work in progress - which is collected via four sensors attached to three operating parts including the excavator boom, arm, and bucket, in addition to the excavator’s main body - on the monitor installed in the cabin. The system can produce diverse information such as the slope, distance and depth of the excavation work in progress without any additional survey work, with a margin of error of less than 2 centimeters.
A representative of Doosan Infracore said, "The system reduces the need for surveying work and consequently the likelihood of accidents in the field as well. Once the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and the 3D technology have been upgraded, work efficiency will improve by as much as 30 percent.” He went on to say, “The system will be officially launched in October.”
Doosan Infracore is planning to further upgrade its smart solution by linking it to the Machine Control technology that it’s currently developing. The Machine Control technology makes it possible for even unskilled operators to complete difficult tasks easily through trajectory-based operations. If an excavator is about to move outside the predetermined perimeters, the technology will automatically prevent it from doing so.
In addition, Doosan Infracore will introduce a variety of other smart solutions at the Show, including DoosanCONNECT™, which is designed to enhance the efficiency of worksite management and equipment operation through remote equipment monitoring, and the 'Weighing System', which automatically measures a wheel loader’s workload and notifies the equipment operator thereof.
