HD Hyundai Infracore launches the construction equipment industry’s first online excavator store, and sells its electric excavator, the 1.7-ton Develon, as the first online sales product.
HD Hyundai Infracore announced on August 3 (Thursday), that it has opened the Develon online store (https://store.develon-ce.com/kr/) and began to sell the 1.7-ton Develon mini electric excavator (model name: DX20ZE) exclusively online. Some leading global companies have accepted online reservations in advance in the past, but it is the first time in the world that customers can make a complete online purchase from start to finish.
The Develon online store is a system that allows customers to conveniently purchase excavators online without visiting a dealership in person. It can process ▲electronic purchase contracts, ▲online payment of deposits and balances, and ▲government subsidy applications in a one-stop format. Moreover, customers can even apply for installment financing through links with capital companies.
In the past, customers had to visit a dealer shop and local government offices to go through the application process separately to purchase an electric excavator.
Since this model (DX20ZE) is equipped with a proprietary battery pack and high-performance motor as opposed to an internal combustion engine, it is unnecessary to replace engine-related consumables, such as engine oil and engine oil filters, providing lower maintenance costs and the same performance as machinery with an internal combustion engine of the same class. A heating film is applied to the proprietary battery pack for recharging in low and sub-zero temperatures.
Additionally, the mini electric excavator is designed to provide a small turning radius, making it ideal for operating in narrow urban areas. It features a variable track width (1,360mm~950mm range) with the largest and smallest full width in its class to enable stable operations and movement in narrow areas.
HD Hyundai Infracore began developing an electric excavator in 2019 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and make its construction equipment more eco-friendly, and released its first product in four years after a pre-customer satisfaction testing process.
According to the global market research institute TBRC (The Business Research Company), the global electrical construction equipment market is expected to grow more than double from USD 9.1 billion (KRW 11.4 trillion) in 2023 to USD 19.9 billion (KRW 25.1 trillion) in 2027.
Major European cities, such as Amsterdam (Netherlands), Berlin (Germany), Oslo (Norway), and London (the UK), have announced policies that mandate carbon-neutral machinery. The Korean government also decided to expand subsidiary support for electric excavators and charging facilities by amending the Enforcement Decree of the Clean Air Conservation Act at the end of June, so the distribution of eco-friendly construction equipment is expected to expand significantly in S. Korea.
In a report to the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), HD Hyundai Construction Equipment disclosed that it would reduce carbon emissions by increasing the proportion of eco-friendly product sales to 95% and converting to a sustainable construction market by 2040.
Meanwhile, HD Hyundai Infracore plans to expand its services to parts sales by accumulating sales data and know-how from the Develon online store. <End>
